Q. How do you give Clappies to content at each Web address?
A. We have a proprietary set of systems we use to identify the owner at the other end of content at any Web address, or URL you specify. We send them a message notifying them of your Clappies gift with a password-protected single-use URL they can use to create an account and retrieve the Clappies you gave them.
Q. How do I know if a content owner has received the Clappies I sent them?
A. You can check go to the Activity tab in your My Account page and check the status of each gift. If the status is listed as Received, then the content owner has received your Clappies gift.
Q. If a content owner doesn’t claim the Clappies I gave them, can I get those Clappies back?
A. Yes. If a content owner doesn’t claim the Clappies you sent them within 180 days, you can claim them back. You can do this from your Clappies History page.
Q. How can I buy Clappies?
A. You can buy Clappies by creating an account and then going to My Account. From there, click the Clappies tab, and then the Purchase sub-tab within there. Here you will see a list of pricing options and discount rates. You can also enter a specific quantity of Clappies to purchase.
Q. How can I give Clappies?
A. You can give Clappies from virtually any page within Clappies. Two good places are at the homepage and within the My Account page.
Q. How can I cash-in my Clappies?
A. To cash-in your Clappies, first make sure you have an account, then go to the Clappies tab on the My Account section of the site. From here, click Withdraw. You can have cash sent to you via PayPal or a check via US Mail.
Q. Why did you create “Clappies” instead of just facilitating cash gifts?
A. There are two reasons: First, we wanted to enable people to give smaller denominations of gifts without incurring prohibitive transaction fees. Second, we wanted people to expose the wealth of their giving and receiving, and by creating a currency that does just this, we felt people would be more open to sharing this information.
Q. What do you mean by “visibility”?
A. By “visibility” we mean the ability of other people to see the Clappies you give, including how many you give, how many you receive and, most importantly, who you give them to and what Rewards, if any, you get in return.
Q. Who created Clappies?
